Fun Camping Games and Activities For Families While Camping
Camping is a time that has forced us to have fun and family time. When we are home, we tend to be busy and play far less together! Campsite games offer our family hours of fun, laughter, memories, and smiles.
We have several options, some that take up very little space, break down easily, are good for indoors, and others for a pretty day outdoors! So what are our favorite fun camping games for families?
Indoor Games
1. Trekking the National Parks Game
This game was gifted to our son and has quickly become one of our favorite games to play. Each time we play Trekking the National Parks the game is different. Trekking the National Park requires thinking about strategy and helps our kids learn how to think several steps ahead!
Trekking the National Parks is on the pricey side, retailing for about $50 and is for ages 10+. It does take up some real estate to play but we can fit the board and the cards around our table in the camper, but stores compactly. This game takes us about an hour, sometimes longer to play.

2. Left Right Center
This is a fun dice game that is for all ages! It moves quickly, so games are fast.
Everyone starts with the same number of chips and depending on what you roll, your chips will stay with you or move left, right or to the center pile. It’s a game of luck and so much fun.
Bonus: Left -> Right -> Center is super compact and takes up very little room!

3. Uno
I think we all know what Uno is and how to play. We keep Uno Flip in the camper. There are many variations of Uno which makes for an inexpensive variety of games. Uno is a quick card game and doesn’t take up much space.

4. Sorry
Sorry is a classic board game that can change your luck with a draw of a card or your opponent’s draw! We were given a travel version that uses a mini-board, pawns, and a spinner. But this game is compact and can easily fit on your table if you can’t find a travel version!
5. Deck of Cards
Who doesn’t love a deck of cards? The options are endless from Go Fish, War, Solitaire, Rummy, Poker, and more. A plain deck of cards is a must for any rainy day in the camper. Looking for a new card game to play? You’re in luck with The Best Card Games.
Outdoor Games
6. Ladder Ball
Ladder Ball is a fun game for 2-4 people. You will need some room to play but it stores compactly and is easy to set up. This is definitely one of our favorite outdoor games. We have taken it to the beach, the campground, and our backyard.
The object is to throw your bolas (2 balls connected) onto the ladder. The top rung is 3 points, the middle is 2 and the bottom is 1 point. The first person or team to 21 wins!
It is much easier than you would think and great for all ages! It is fun for kids and the parents!

7. Spikeball
Spikeball is all the rage at the beach. You will see people playing this game all over the sand. This is a game that is geared toward older kids. Our 11-year-old plays it very well though.
It breaks down and stores easily in the bag it comes with and set up is quick.
Playing Spikeball takes some open space! Make sure there is plenty of room in your campsite or pack it up and take it to a park or the beach!

8. Pickleball
Pickleball is a family favorite! We have paddles, balls, and a net that breaks down easily, now we need the space.
Several campgrounds we have been to now have pickleball courts! Or we drive to one in the area we are staying.
Pickleball is all the rage and the courts can be busy but don’t let that stop you! Pickleball players are very nice and helpful and will show you how to get onto the court rotation!
Learning to play pickleball is easy. If you can, plan ahead and schedule a 1-hour lesson at your destination. Or before you leave home, take a class or watch a video, it is great for all ages and beginners!
Pro Tip: Please wear the correct tennis shoes. Many injuries happen due to lateral movement if you are not in the appropriate shoe! According to Mike who is an experienced runner, “Soft cross-training or running shoes are not good for Pickleball!”

9. Washers
Washers is a fun game where you throw your color washers into the opposite box and try to score points by landing it in the center area.
Think of cornhole but with washers and easier to transport and store! You need about 20 feet between the boxes and this can be played with 2-4 people.

10. Light up Balls
We keep kickballs, basketballs, volleyballs, and more in our camper. The kids enjoy having these options as most campgrounds have courts or the space to play Four Square. Recently, we discovered Glow City Balls, these balls light up which makes it fun to play on summer evenings or on those fall nights when it gets dark early! Glow City Balls offers footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, and kickballs!
