4 Guys RV Park Tour: Red River Gorge
4 Guys RV Park Tour: Red River Gorge
As outdoor explorers, we love visiting and camping in Red River Gorge in eastern Kentucky. Known to locals as “the Gorge”, this 29,000-acre slice of Daniel Boone National Forest is home to the most natural arches east of the Mississippi River. With this 4 Guys RV Park tour, we will show why this park serves as our home base during our visits to Red River Gorge.
We want to share why we love this park so much! We know as much as our pictures and words help share the overall vibe of this awesome park, video tours of campgrounds are super valuable. So, check out our YouTube channel for a tour of 4 Guys RV Park (the link is below).
Our Stay at 4 Guys RV Park in Red River Gorge
Arrival and First Impressions of 4 Guys
4 Guys is located about 2.5 miles from the Slade, Kentucky exit of the Mountain Parkway, and the driving approach is easy. The entry to the park is on the left side of the road about ¼ mile past Nada Tunnel Road.
The initial turn-in is concrete which allows for a much smoother entry from the road. The interior roads are nice and wide making for easy navigation especially when backing into your campsite. While we have not camped in the “lower loop” section (sites 16 – 27) there is a short and steep downhill to navigate. I’ve seen plenty of larger campers and fifth wheels camped out in that section so tail drag must not be an issue!
The campground is well-kept! All utilities (electric, water, etc.) operate as they should, the lawn is maintained, the pool is covered (we usually aren’t here during the summer), the private bathrooms are cleaned regularly, etc. While these details seem small they add up to a great experience.
Site 12 Overview
Campsite 12 at 4 Guys is one of our favorites! Site 12 offers privacy behind the campsite and to the driver’s side of the rig. The benefit here is you won’t be sandwiched between two groups of party-time campers!! As a bonus, the patio area feels larger on this site than others we have stayed.
Located at the top of the entry drive, campsite 12 is super easy to back into. Over the years, our reversing skills have improved, but we appreciate easy-to-navigate sites every chance we get!
Site 12 is a short walk to the private bathrooms, pool, basketball court, and more!
Other Sites We Like: 4 Guys Campground has lots of good sites to choose from. Some other favorites include campsites 36 – 40, 46 to 56, and 61 to 74 (no shade).
What facilities and services does 4 Guys RV Park offer to enhance the camping experience?
Camping at 4 Guys means the fun doesn’t stop when you are finished exploring the Gorge for the day!
What types of RV accommodations are available at 4 Guys RV Park?: Cabins + RV Rental + RV Campsites
Campgrounds across the country are adding tiny homes, cabins, and RV rentals to their properties which offers unique opportunities to explore the campground experience. Pulling the trigger on buying a camper is a huge decision, so why not “try before you buy” at 4 Guys RV Park?
As a guest, you have access to all the campground amenities and get to build some awesome family memories around the campfire roasting smores and telling ghost stories. What better way to relax than playing a game of Uno as a family?
Location, Location, Location
Wondering how this location is perfect for exploring Red River Gorge’s key attractions? Read on!
In real estate, location is the ultimate trump card. RV campers seeking a premium campground with all the amenities only minutes from the Gorge are in the right place at 4 Guys!
Popular destinations like the Gladie Visitor Center and Auxier Ridge Trailhead are about 25 minutes away. Less than 10 minutes away are many popular dining options like Miguel’s Pizza and several barbeque restaurants. Since we began coming to the Gorge, many new local retail businesses have opened.
Plan to spend some time exploring these shops looking for the perfect souvenir!
Private Bathrooms
Who doesn’t welcome a nice warm shower after exploring and hiking in the woods all day? Private bathrooms with nearly endless hot water is amazing! In the winter, the bathrooms have heaters which makes these rooms worth the short walk!
On our RV journey, we often rank a campground higher or lower because of the quality of the bathhouse. 4 Guys delivers AWESOME private bathrooms!
Swimming Pool
We find campground swimming pools to be a great amenity. Why? After a long day of travel or exploring a quick dip in the pool feels super relaxing!
Swimming pools also offer our kids a chance to burn off some energy before bed. Sitting on the poolside watching our kids make new friends, invent new games, or just see how long they can hold their breath brings back my childhood memories!
Catch and Release Fishing Pond
Campers looking for waterfront campsites are in luck at 4 Guys with the beautiful catch-and-release fishing pond. RV campsites are located on both sides of this gorgeous water feature. Complete with a fishing dock this lake offers hours of entertainment for anglers of all ages.
Playground + Game room
With two playgrounds (geared towards younger kids), disc golf, basketball, and an indoor game room families have plenty of options for enjoying some time at the campground.
Our family is incredibly active in our “normal” life, so when we are camping we savor each minute laughing and just taking a break from “life”. The laughter and smiles show Sara and me how fortunate we are to be in these moments with our kids!
Helpful Resources + FAQs

During this time the Gorge has grown and developed into a thriving community centered around exploring the Gorge! New restaurants, hotels, tiny homes, campgrounds, and adventure attractions (zip lines, kayaking underground, and more) have all opened to great fanfare!
